London Perfusion Science has a very strong relationship with the large cardiovascular companies. Savings on disposables and hardware are no longer just dependent on purchasing power. This relationship has been built up over many years through research projects, organising and running study days, training their staff, training hospital staff to use their products and acting as a reference centre for new equipment / techniques.

Purchasing power does however still play a role and London Perfusion Science has in excess of £950,000 of purchasing power across its hospitals, something the companies are well aware of.
Our association with the companies also extends to hardware supply. Graph 4 shows how LPS developed the technology and safety of perfusion hardware at one of our contracted hospitals. The initial upgrades were to meet our governing bodies minimum standards for safety and monitoring. We began in April 2004, achieved minimum standards in June 2004 and as of April 2005 have the best-equipped Perfusion department in the UK, boasting some of the newest cutting edge technology.

We chose to avoid the administration that comes with supplying disposables through our company. This 'lack of middle man' is beneficial to the contracted hospital for two reasons:

London Perfusion Science does not 'mark up' the price of the disposables/hardware.
The contracted hospital benefits from the relationship LPS has with the companies.

The Company benefits from this type of system as it increases the attraction for the contracted hospital to use our service (long-term business plan).
