Personnel and Staffing

Due to the nature of our work and company ownership policy our recruitment process has to be meticulous. London Perfusion Science never recruits from London Hospitals as we consider this to be a conflict of interests. We are always looking for potential new staff, but only recruit when contracted work permits. This has created a situation where we have job waiting list of 7 perfusionists. Five of them have completed the recruitment process (including a two week trial period) with the exception of the
final interview. Perfusionists are happy to stay on the list because of the working environment we have created.

The main differences between our perfusion jobs and an NHS role are detailed below:

  More flexible working structure
Opportunity to work at more than one hospital and with more than one Cardiac team
  Multi-disciplinary work experience
  Autologous Therapies experience (Career protection)
  More of a business/management role
  Ownership of the organisation
Greater potential earning power (not to be mistaken for inflated salaries)

Whilst all of our perfusionists are senior they are internally graded at different levels. Figure 1 shows how our internal personnel structure relates to an NHS position. This structure allows us to provide

each hospital with the appropriate level of senior/managerial cover based on operating lists and non-clinical commitments.

Full CV's / clinical experience are provided for our perfusionists including MDU insurance details, College Registration, Accreditation Numbers, references, etc.
